トラフザメは、夜行性のサメです。夕方になると、活発に泳ぐ姿が見られます。成魚の体の色は、黄褐色で多数の小さな黒い点がありますが、生まれた時には白と黒の縞模様をしていることから「ゼブラシャーク」とも、よばれています。
Zebra sharks are nocturnal, and can be recognized by their distinctive yellow-brown bodies covered in small black spots. Newborn babies, however, have black and white stripes, hence they are known as “Zebra sharks”.
