マンボウは、世界中の温帯・熱帯の海の表層から中層をゆったり泳いでいる魚で、時には海面に横になっていることもあります。マンボウの皮ふは厚く、ザラザラしていて、成長すると体長は３メートルにもなります。マンボウには尾鰭がなく、尾鰭のように見える部分は「舵鰭」という鰭で、船の舵のような役割をしています。
Ocean sunfish tend to swim in shallow and mid-depth offshore waters, but sometimes they lie on their sides and sunbathe on the surface of water, too. They have a thick, coarse skin and an unique look because they have no tailfin. Ocean sunfish can grow up to 3m long, they feed on jellyfish and other small fish. They can be found in warm and tropical zones worldwide.
