サメの仲間は、卵を産む種類と、子どもを産む種類に分けることができます。卵の形は、種類によって違う形をしています。例えば、トラザメの卵は、四隅につる状のものが付いていて、母親はこれを海藻などに絡ませて卵が流されないように産み付けます。卵をよく見ると、卵の中でサメの赤ちゃんが動いているのが見えます。サメの赤ちゃんは卵黄から養分を吸収し、約1年で卵から出てきます。
Some sharks lay eggs; other sharks give birth their babies. The shape of the eggs depends on the species. Cloudy catshark eggs have tendrils on the four corners, the mother shark tangles the marine algae around it to secure the egg. The eggs are slightly transparent and you can see the baby moving inside. The baby absorbs nutrients from the yolk and hatches after about a year.
