北海道の一部を除く日本各地に生息するミズクラゲの透明な体には「口腕」と呼ばれる4本のリボン状の部分があります。また、体の中には4つ生殖腺がはっきり見えることから、「ヨツメクラゲ」ともよばれています。
Moon jellyfish live all around Japan with the exception of some parts of Hokkaido. They have transparent bodies, four ribbon-like “oral arms,” and four reproductive glands that looks like eyes, hence it has a Japanese nickname of “four-eyed jellyfish.”
