深い海にすむツノザメの仲間は、体が黒っぽく、背鰭に棘を持っています。眼が光って見えるのは、網膜の後ろ側に「タペータム」という、小さな鏡のような器官があるからです。この「タペータム」があることで、暗いところでもものを見る事ができるのです。
Dogfish is a type of deep-sea sharks with black bodies and spikes on their dorsal fins. Their eyes glow in the dark because behind their retinae, they have a “tapetum lucidum”, which acts like a mirror and reflects light to help them see in the dark.
